steve's full name is steven andrew birrell. different people refer to him in different ways. for example, some of steve's freinds call him 'steve-o'. some call him 'steve' and some call him 'birrell'. his parents call him 'steven'.

steve plays bass in little amber. he uses a fender precision bass guitar through an ashdown mag200 amplifier (with the subharmonic generator ON). steve has a fuzz pedal called 'mr chunky'. although he sounds very special, mr chunky is really just a modified boss ODB3 bass overdrive in disguise. nonetheless, mr chunky makes the bass VERY fuzzy and loud.

steve used to dye his hair a lot. everyone thought that it was a vanity thing, but he is positive that it was something that he 'felt he had to do while he was young'. his hair used to be peroxide blonde, but sometimes he dyed it darker colours. it is natural coloured now.

as well as playing bass for little amber, steve composes his own music: a blend of analogue synthesisers, drum machines, distorted bass and various strange instruments. he calls this project 'panic:office'.

steve's other interests include photography, film-making, reading, cinema, drinking, showering and writing. steve hates shaving and television chat shows. steve studies medicine at the university of edinburgh.
