old news

because we know how much you love to read that month-old copy of the mirror that is lying in the toilets at your work...

Thank You!!!

thank you all so much for coming to see us at the Cabaret Voltaire last night. we really enjoyed the show, apart from the technical difficulties with the guitar amplifier. it is really strange: the amp that robbie used was borrowed. he has exactly the same amp. and guess what? exactly the same thing happened to his! (which is why we couldn't use it). maybe we should email marshall and tell them... Also thanks to namik and the last great wilderness for being fantastic. and the sound man for giving us the best onstage sound we've had in a long time...

our next gig: well, we don't really know. he have about 8 offers of gigs in the pipeline, and have to confirm them... we are playing at ratho at a bikers rally on the 29th july, but i'm not sure if that is an open invite or not. i'll let you know

take extra special care

The first news update in ages!

Please accept my apologies: I know that I usually diligently update the site frequently. Life, work, home, and university have left me with little time to do so recently.

Anyway, how are you? In the Amber camp, all is well. We have been working on promotion for My Mistakes (which you may buy in our online shop if you have not already done so). My new year's resolution will be frequent updates of the site.

Expect a lot of changes around here. We feel that the entire site is becoming dated, and want to refresh a lot of the material.

Before we go any further, why not click here, to see what the nice chaps at Baby Tiger said about our wonderful 'My Mistakes' ep/lp/whatever it is (we're confused too). you guys....

There are a couple of new songs on the site, and our newest music video... when i say 'new songs', i mean 'new to you'. some of them have been kicking around for ages and have been hidden in the darkest depths of my cd collection. i thought we'd show them the light of day

OK, so in the meantime, you can see us LIVE. The closest gig is actually this Saturday (20th November) at the Teviot student union, Edinburgh. You don't have to be a student to come in: all you need is valid ID (bank card will do, but a driving license or passport will be priceless if there may be any doubt about your 'youthful' looks being perhaps too youthful!). The doors open at 9pm, and the bands (us and the infamous, Jack Daniels-guzzling Tyrant Lizard Kings) will be on until about midnight, after which the club will run until 3am. Admission will cost £4 (£3 if you are a member of the university rock society EDG&R). Our first gig in 3 months: come along and be amazed!

And as always, if you have not already got a copy, our mini-album, My Mistakes, will be available at the show, along with T-shirts and other merchandise.

More news updates to follow...

See you at the show!

Steve

little amber will release their debut mini-album 'my mistakes' on saturday 21st august 2004.

The mini-album, which features seven of the bands tracks and weighs in at over 41 minutes long, will be released on stupid human being records.

the liquid room is on victoria street, edinburgh. doors will open at 7pm, and tickets cost £5 from the bands (tickets available online). tickets are also available from tickets scotland and ripping records in edinburgh.

Little Amber t-shirts: £7

Little Amber silver logo stickers: £0.50

GIGS AND STUFF

right peeps. its getting close to the most anticipated event of the year... no, silly. not the record launch (speaking of which, we have plans for one hell of a party. and we're waiting until the edinburgh festival for it!) no, we're getting close to 'radio frequency interference'...

"what the hell is 'radio frequency interference' ?" i hear you ask. well, we're not talking the fuzziness you get when you go through a tunnel in the car. no, we're talking about something much cooler than that... a night of live music at the liquid room, planned and run by banana row.

this will take place on tuesday the 15th of june at the liquid room, edinburgh. tickets will cost £5 (from us, any of the other bands or from banana row itself), and the doors will open at 7pm. also performing are the calamities (folky rock), the mars patrol (beautiful and melodic), fuse, and genus (electro-punk rock).

as well as playing with us on the night, i am also playing with genus, doing live visuals. they are looking mighty fine, so that is two reasons to come along!

we'll hopefully see you there. email us if you want tickets, or pop into banana row.

STOP PRESS!!!! THE BIGGEST LITTLE AMBER STORY YET!!!!

(read aloud and pretend to be trevor mcdonald)

breaking news, as little amber announce that they have finally opened up their moth-eaten wallets and paid for a decent domain name.

after more than a year at littleamber.tk, they have decided that the time was right to splash out the massive total of about a fiver to buy their dream home: www.littleamber.co.uk

"its really the same site" admits band bass player and computer genius steve birrell. "it's just a new name - like a forwarding address: you know, when you move house and the postie delivers your letters to your new place, yeah, kinda like that, but not really the same, cos he doesn't do that unless you pay them loads of money. d'oh!"

however, frontman robbie henderson told a different tale. "man, i could have bought 2 pints for the cost of that name. i need to go for a dump now. see you later man..."

ewan shemilt, the drummer, was unavailible for comment as he was asleep after doing an all nighter with gibby and matty watching primus videos.

so where now for little amber? "we want littleamber.com, but that is currently owned by some porno company" sighs steve. "yeah man, .com would definitely be our dream home man" added robbie.

on a lesser note, little amber have six gigs in the pipeline. maybe you should check out the gigs page and go along before these guys get massive and buy littleamber.com off the porno people.

robbie's closing remark was "man, that is totally going to be what we do when we get big: buy .com off the porn guys. i need to go for a dump again man...."

GIG CANCELLED: pointing the finger...

due to the brainlessness of breed 77's tour manager/promoter/gimp, little amber were not able to play on friday night...

we were told by the guy that we could use all the equipment, and that all we needed to bring were our own guitars. however, at 7pm on the evening of the gig (15 minutes before we were due to go on), we were informed that we could not use their amplifiers. therefore, we never played...

thanks to all the staff at the liquid room for being so nice about it: paying us, giving us beer, and refunding people that had payed £10 for the pleasure of seeing us play.

the bands themselves (both breed 77 and <209>) were nice enough about it: they were not the ones with the problem, and seemed more than happy for us to use their gear.

no thanks to the little piece of shit promoter who ruined our (and our guests and fans) evening. we hope that your night ran at a loss (i counted about 65 people there - can't have made much profit you little wankstain). we hope that you got beaten up on the way back to sleeping in your crummy car, and that you die of ebola. other bands: maybe you should get a new promoter, cos that guy is a total asshole. before you sack him, why not vent your anger by doing the toilet in his mouth?

speaking of which, thanks for the loan of your pen.

a very big "thank you"

thank you to all those who came to see us at the liquid room on saturday 03/04/04. it was great seeing so many people there. we hope that you enjoyed it, because we certainly enjoyed playing. hopefully, all the animals can be saved with the money we raised (apparently, its not just rhinos that greenforce save)

specific thanks have to go to fat ben (for organising the whole thing), johnny miele and ross nelson from chains undone (johnny video'd the show and ross shot that nice black and white movie that was playing at the side of the stage), carin (our sticker and flyer man), the greenforce lady (for buying us lots of beer), and the light and sound guys (for making us look and sound nice)

we hope to see you at the next one. nothing is planned as yet, but it will be very soon. to find out, why not subscribe to our mailing list, and we'll send you nice e-mails telling you when you can see us again.

take it easy

little amber: live at last!

eventually, following a few weeks of exams, holidays, stalking bands, and getting barred from pubs, little amber are back to rock your socks off...

TCAS (the testicular cancer people) have pulled out of the charity show that we will be playing on the 3rd april at the liquid room. instead of cancelling the gig, greenforce came along and offered to be the benefactors. the details remain unchanged, apart from the charity. now, we are saving rhinos with the likes of Swampy (pictured - he'll be there!). one word of warning: when you go to the loo, beware of middle aged naturalists chaining themselves to the cistern in protest of wasting water. 'you should go outside man... its more in harmony with nature... peace.'

"save the rhinos man! come and see little amber..."

TOP SECRET!!

all our news at the moment is top secret. well, almost...

little amber are busy in the studio at the moment (not this exact moment, you fool...) recording some tasty treats for your listening pleasure. the 'my mistakes' e.p. scheduled for release last year has been scrapped, and replaced with the 'my mistakes' mini album, which has loads more songs, all freshly recorded and some of them never before played live! its not quite finished yet, but we'll keep you posted....

LITTLE AMBER FOR THE CUP!!!!

err... yeah. if there was a cup for cancelling shows, we'd have to win it hands down, Apologies to emergency red and namik for having to cancel gigs. ewan is off to the states to stalk primus for fourteen nights, and the wonderful shows that we have had to knock back fall in the middle of this drummerless period....

On the bright side, you can see and hear your favourite three men on the planet making a shitload of noise for you on the 18th of february at cabaret voltaire (before captain drums heads off), check the gigs section or email us for more info...

on the 24th of february (my little sister's birthday, incidentally), you can hear the sounds of me and the goatee boy spinning our wheels of steel at the extravaganza that is MARFEST. we'll be playing allsorts, from sinatra to the sebodah, from biffy to beethoven (your guess is as good as ours. if you want any requests, email us). oh, and katy (sis), if you wanna go for a birthday night out, let me know and we'll play you some special songs, just for you....

BRAND NEW GIGS!!!

wow. check out the gigs page for information on two freshly organised gigs.

the first is with festoon at cabaret voltaire. we've never been there, so are really looking forward to it. if anyone has been there and fancies telling us what its like (size, sound quality, drink prices...), please get in touch.

the second is a charity show. the charity is TCAS (testicular cancer awareness scotland), which is the first support group in the uk for men with testicular cancer. apparently, jack mcconnell (the first minister for scotland, i.e. the daddy of the scottish parliament for those of you who don't know) is totally 'proud' that this charity is scottish. is at the liquid room. all profits on the night go to the charity. so come along, flash your wad and get yer baws out!

new site layout

welcome to little amber online version 2.0! as you might have noticed, the site has been completely overhauled, and the layout has been updated. the main difference is that the 'body' of each page is not confined to a small square in the corner of the page. a 'press' section has also been added. this contains high-resolution artwork, reviews and an opportunity that you cannot pass up!.

i think it is now more user-friendly, but maybe that's just me. if you want to shout at anyone for these changes, then click here and abuse me. this also applies if you spot anything that should be updated.

liquid room 22/11/03: cheers for coming...

a big monster hug and a big slobbery kiss to everyone who came to the liquid room show on saturday. it was really nice to see that many folks there, even though they probably all came to see other bands...

thanks to the lighting and sound engineers for making us look and sound nice. also thanks to leechate, korova and namik for playing with us in the pimp room backstage. mega mega thanks to nicky from namik for organising the thing and giving us money, and alex from ac-rid for helping him, for being there and helping out loads on the night. apparently there were roadies there (my bass amp ended up outside along with the rest of the equipment, and i certainly didn't move it...), so thanks to them and all.

did anyone notice our video playing behind the bar during our set? i spent ages making that.... email me if u did...

a little picture...

using the wonderfully advanced MS paint, a third party (who wishes to remain anonymous) has designed an advert for the liquid rooms show on the 22/11/03. how nice...

LIQUID ROOMS SHOW

thank you to everyone who dragged their arses away from the evils of the MTV europe awards to come see us at bannermans last week. it was a bit rushed, especially the extra bands that ended up playing cos of a muck-up at the venue, but i think it went ok. thanks to sylvan for coming out to play.

anyway, we are playing in less than two weeks at the liquid room. on the 22nd of november, actually. doors open at 7pm, and its a helluva early show. it'll all be over by 10pm. it will cost £5 on the door, but we can do you tickets for £4, either in person or through our online shop

you should SO come along. it'll be a blast. we're being allowed to use the large projector screens as well (that's all i'm saying. the rest is a surprise...). and as usual afterwards, we'll all go out and drink lots of cheap beer.

(ugly) kylie Vs (lovely) little amber: gig just confirmed!!!

06/11/2003: we are pleased to announce that we will be rescuing all the anti-MTV-ers from a potential night of sitting in the house watching, err..., MTV. as a rebellion to the corporate wank that will be tarnishing leith and the gardens, we are pleased to announce that little amber will be playing a low-key show in bannermans with fellow edinburgh noisemongers sylvan.

BANNERMANS! £3! the thing probably won't kick off until about quarter to ten, but head along for nine for a pint and a chat. afterwards, we can all amuse ourselves by going out with paint bombs and messing up some superstars, just in time for their date with J-Lo in the opal lounge....

GIG CANCELLED!!!!

we would like to apoligise to our legions of fans scheduled to turn up on thursday to bannermans. due to band illness (robbie's got the flu bug that steve had last week). LITTLE AMBER WILL NOT PERFORM AT BANNERMANS ON THURSDAY 22nd NOVEMBER 2003.

sorry for any inconvenience caused.

they may have swapped the influenza virus, but they strongly deny snogging.....

rumours...

we are aware that there are rumours circulating regarding our signing to a record label.

we would like to officially state that this is NOT the case. we are releasing our 'my mistakes' ep on our own label, stupid human being records. this release is not being funded by any external sources.

sorry if you were confused.

click here to pre-order your copy of 'my mistakes'.

NEW online shop!!!!

this time, steve has surprised even himself. what started off as an afternoon of tidying his house ended with a online shop on the site!! not bad for a days work...

powered by PayPal®, you can now buy tickets online. you can also pre-order your copy of the forthcoming ep, 'my mistakes', due for release on 22/11/03

we'll even post your stuff to your house!! now all you have to do is get out of bed and go to the front door!!

little amber @ the liquid rooms

thanks to alex from ac-rid and nicky from namik, little amber will top the bill at the liquid rooms on the 22nd november 2003. also confirmed are namic and korova.

this is going to be a big one, and cannot be missed by anyone. anywhere. if you don't come, we will send truant officers out to catch you.

check out the gigs page for more info.

'dat pesky messageboard...

ok folks. as you will have probably have noticed in the last wee while, the messageboard has been totally not working. this has been due to the board host moving servers or some pathetic excuse like that. we do apologise sincerely for this...

anyway, now we got a new one!!!

the new messageboard is much cooler than the old one. and it works (which is always helpful). click here to get to the new board...

oh, and big apologies for all those who signed up to the old one: you'll need to sign up again cos its a different board

GiGs GiGs GiGs!!!

LiTtLe AmBeR have a monster great pile of gigs in the next while. check out the gigs page for more info...
